Wayne Pinnock’s record-breaking performances at the 2019 ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships have opened the eyes of a lot coaches from universities in the United States.

But, the 18-year-old said he will return to Kingston College next season for his final year in Class One.

“I am coming back to school,” he told STAR Sports, without going into details on Monday as Kingston College celebrated their 32nd hold on the Mortimer Geddes Trophy.

Pinnock became the first schoolboy to jump over eight metres when he leaped to 8.05m to erase Leon Gordon’s 26-year-old mark of 7.87m.

He then returned two days later to shatter De’Jour Russell’s record in the Class One 110m, stopping the clock at 13.06 seconds.

“Before the race I was a little bit nervous, but I told myself that this is an important race for the championships, so I knew I had to pull off something and I did it and got the record. I was ready to do whatever it takes to win the race,” Pinnock said.

The World Under-20 long jump bronze medallist has vowed to continue developing his talent in the Long Jump as he realises that he has something special.

“My record in the long jump, it tells me that I have a great talent, and I need to continue to work on it,” he said.
