Teen cop charged with rape of 14-y-o girl in Guyana

Guyana, CMC - A police officer has been remanded into custody after he appeared in a magistrate's court charged with raping a 14-year-old girl.

The officer, Erwin Gentle, 19, of Essequibo Coast, was arrested and charged on Monday by the Guyana Defence Force Gender-Based Violence Unit for rape of a child under 16 years old.

Gentle, who appeared at the Friendship Magistrates' Court before Magistrate Tameika Clarke, was not required to plead and was remanded.

He will re-appear in court on October 27.
