Bank on Thegoodlife in Race 1
IT's not often that bankers are suggested in the lower claiming ranks of $180,000 and $250,000 runners. However, never miss an opportunity to capitalise on a good thing, especially this Saturday's Reggae 6, which gets knottier after each race.
Reading the form from every angle, THEGOODLIFE should be a banker to start all Reggae 6 bets. A winner on a $400,000 tag on New Year's Day, THEGOODLIFE showed speed in all her subsequent races at higher levels.
Claimed for $550,000 on April 6 by Greg Fennell for champion owner Carlton Watson, THEGOODLIFE returned three weeks later, attempting to make all at six and a half furlongs a rung down the claiming ladder.
Tackled by out-of-class ROHAN KABIR on the lead, THEGOODLIFE surrendered but was still second coming off the turn and third a furlong out after being relegated by PHAROAH IT IS.
ROHAN KABIR won 10 lengths clear of PHAROAH IT IS, who was six ahead of THEGOODLIFE finishing sixth in the 11-horse field of $400,000 claimers.
Lowered to $250,000 off the claim with champion jockey Reyan Lewis summoned at five and a half furlongs, THEGOODLIFE won't be for catching at the shorter trip in weaker company.
The Reggae 6 gets pretty sticky after the opening event. Tread carefully and avoid the urge to bank iffy horses, more so maiden runners showing similar speed at exercise.
