Man fatally hits daughter with car, sends her crashing into wall
A quiet morning in Kitson Town, St Catherine, ended in tragedy yesterday when a two-year-old girl was struck by her father’s car after reportedly being startled by the loud sound of a passing motorcycle.
The child has been identified as Cahiera Scarlett of Friendship Housing Scheme, Kitson Town.
Reports are that about 8:30 a.m. on August 18, Cahiera was at home with her father when a motorcycle reportedly passed nearby.
The loud sound from the motorcycle’s muffler, which reportedly resembled gunshots, is said to have frightened the toddler.
In her panic, the child reportedly ran towards her father’s car, which was moving at the time.
The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, which struck the child before crashing into a wall of the house.
Cahiera reportedly suffered severe head injuries in the incident.
She was rushed to the Spanish Town General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The Guanaboa Vale police have launched a death investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
