Body of missing Munro student recovered off St Thomas coast

The search for a missing Munro College student ended in tragedy on Thursday after his body was recovered off the coast of St Thomas, a day after he disappeared while swimming with friends.

The deceased has been identified as 16-year-old Kamal Reynolds, a Munro College student and resident of St Elizabeth.

According to police reports, Reynolds was among a group of students swimming at a beach in St Thomas on Wednesday when he reportedly got into difficulties and disappeared beneath the water.

A search involving the Marine Police was launched shortly after the incident but was suspended Wednesday evening before resuming Thursday morning.

The teen's body was recovered a short while later, bringing the search operation to an end.

The Yallahs Police, assisted by the Marine Police, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
