The Jamaica music fraternity is mourning the death of Anthony 'Supa Dee' Wilson, one of Jamaica's most recognisable sound system figures of the 1990s.

Culture and Entertainment Minister Olivia Grange has expressed sadness, saying the veteran music producer, promoter and sound system operator died suddenly recently.

Grange described Supa Dee as a major figure in Jamaica's sound system culture, particularly during the height of sound clash competition in the 1990s.

"Supa Dee will be remembered as a champion who took on all comers in sound clashes staged at the Harbour View roundabout in the 1990s," the minister said in a statement on Monday.

She extended condolences to Wilson's immediate family, including his daughter Melissa and sons Johnathan and Milton, and the wider music fraternity.

Supa Dee was widely regarded as one of the most influential sound system operators of his era, earning a reputation for competitive clashes and contributions to the growth of dancehall culture
