Teen charged with stealing car at gunpoint

Detectives assigned to the Kingston East Criminal Investigation Branch charged a 17-year-old with two counts of robbery with aggravation, possession of a prohibited weapon and using a firearm to commit a felony following an incident on the Palisadoes main road on November 2.

Reports from the Elletson Road police are that at 9:15 p.m., an elderly man and woman were seated in a parked car when they were pounced upon by the teen and another accomplice who was brandishing a firearm. They proceeded to rob the pair of a Nissan motor car valued at $2.4 million and a Samsung Galaxy phone valued at $30,000 before fleeing in the stolen vehicle. A report was made to the police and an operation was carried out which led to the apprehension of the teen who was in possession of the stolen vehicle.

He was charged on November 6, following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his mother and attorney. His court date is being finalised.
