Donna Ray Roc has always had a penchant for reggae-dancehall music and for taking it across borders.

Having been involved in the music business for more than a decade, the award-winning artistic director, talent developer and producer has taken on another initiative by further bridging the cultural gap between Jamaica and Ghana.

Her latest project dubbed, The ROC FACTAH - The Renaissance Journey, is an initiative in conjunction with The Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Ghana. A 12-part series that started in mid-November, the project explores the cultural similarities and differences between Jamaica and the African nation.

"The objective is to provide something tangible that can help to change the negative narratives of Africa, while providing a trusted portal into the motherland that will help the diaspora get more familiar with the 'who is who' and to experience the beautiful treasures of Ghana," she said.

Over the course of the season, the series would profile Ghana's best from the entertainment, fashion and music industries, while introducing viewers to new and exciting must-visit locations.

"There are so many similarities between Jamaica and Ghana, that is why I feel so much at home here. A part of my plan is to debunk some of these stereotypes and misconceptions about the Jamaican culture over here and that is why I am creating platforms like this one," she said.
