Cops on lookout for events

March 15, 2020

Some promoters are reportedly hell-bent on staging their events despite the Government’s imposition of a 14-day ban on public gatherings as part of measures to contain the risk of transmission of the coronavirus (Covid-19).

“There are some persons, who are adamant that they will go ahead with the events," Mayor of Kingston, Senator  Delroy Williams, said. "We have informed the JCF of the events."

The Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation has withdrawn 64 amusement licences for the staging of various events in the Corporate Area.

Mayor Williams was addressing a meeting of the Parish Disaster Committee last Friday. He has called on operators of car parks to desist from issuing passes for parking.

“The problem people have is that the passes are passing many hands and people are getting nervous about that,” he said.
