DJ Nutzie making his own musical legacy

DJ Nutzie has turned a high-school hobby into a lucrative career.

"Me and my friends used to play on some online radio [platforms] and they used to tell me say mi bad, and that's the same reaction I would get when I would play at some parties in my scheme," he said.

Nutzie, whose given name is Carl Wellington, was born into musical royalty and was destined to follow in the footsteps of his father, the legendary Professor Nuts.

"My father has a sound system in Portmore called P.R.O. International; that was where I fell in love with music ... I loved it from then 'til now, but later on now," he said.

He has made a name for himself with his out-of-the-box music style.

"I like to walk around at any event I'm booked for and feel the energy of the party to see where it needs to go, then flip it to where it needs to be," he said. "The joy it brings others, seeing them leaving an event happy and leaving good reviews after each event, that's why I do it."
