New York-based reggae artiste Fari Difuture says Jamaicans in the diaspora are just as frustrated with the country's crime situation as much as those living in it. It is to that end that the entertainer has penned the song, titled Judgement, a track, he says, speaks to Jamaica's escalating crime rate.

"Everyone is concerned about the crime and violence, not just those in Jamaica. Every person connected with the country in any way is saddened by what has been happening. In the song, I call upon the so-called leaders and their propaganda because too many civilians are dying. Jamaica is a small place. Crime should not be so difficult to quarantine," he said.

"I'm getting a lot of positive feedback with this record because it speaks a lot to the situation in Jamaica right now. My team and I are putting a lot of promotion behind it, and it will pay off because the message is timely and touches the relevant topics."

Judgement is set for release on June 30. It was produced by SC 21-Production. The artiste believes the song has the ability to bring forth some positive impact.

"That's the beauty about music. You can fight wars, motivate, build awareness and so much more while you are working. That is why people must do good music, because this tool is like no other," he said.

MAINSTREAM DIFFICULTY

Fari Difuture said that despite reggae's global appeal, he has been having some difficulty breaking into the mainstream market based on his location. He, however, believes that if he continues pushing his content, geographical barriers will no longer be an issue.

"I am based in New York, and it's not the easiest to break from this side. But I believe hard work shall prevail. Reggae music is growing rapidly and can never be contained. America is diverse, but one thing all Americans have in common is reggae and Bob Marley. I try not to be cliche, but to find unique ways to deliver the messages," said Difuture.

In addition to Judgement, Fari Difuture revealed that he has a number of other projects in the pipeline, most of which will tackle social issues. He is also expected to make several appearances at some events in America this summer.
