Dovey Magnum’s ‘Bawl Out’ still hot after two years
Dancehall artiste Dovey Magnum recently received a huge endorsement from US rapper Lil Uzi after the entertainer was recently caught on social media vibing to her hit song, ' Bawl Out'. Grateful for the endorsement, Dovey told THE STAR that she is still taken aback by the song's longevity and that after two years, the track is still being played.
"I know it was a very great song, a sexy song. I didn't know it was gonna reign so long. It's been getting a lot of attention on the international level. Other than Lil Uzi, you have Ashanti, Lil Wayne's daughter and her boyfriend who was vibing to it recently, and a couple of others. It's hitting a lot of international ears still and I'm grateful for that. To know that reggae music is getting into the space of these international acts, to the point where they can come on social media and put it out there to dem millions of followers, it's a great feeling," she said.
The entertainer said that she cannot help but be grateful to the supporters who have been working on the ground and behind the scenes to get it on to the streets.
"Yuh have other songs out there weh feel nice and dem a do weh dem a do, but other than Ding Dong Flairy, which other song last as long as Bawl Out fi di last two years?" she questioned. "For a song to be raving for two years and still going strong, it says a lot. I haven't reached certain places with it yet; I'm still touring and still performing it. It's a very good feeling, me can't even use one word fi describe it."
Dovey, who will be making her Reggae Sumfest debut next month, says the song helped to get her enough attention to ensure her booking.
She says she will be looking to show fans that she earned her place on the Sumfest stage and will be holding nothing back.
"I'm blessed and happy to be a part of Sumfest for the culture. Everybody know me real and genuine, so yah go get the hardcore me. I like to sound like my tracks on stage, so expect me to come out strong on vocals. Let loose, leggo yuhself and just enjoy it," she said.
