My wife cheated with my own brother

January 20, 2026

Dear Pastor,

This is the second time I am writing to you. I don't know if you received my first letter, but things are getting worse between my wife and me. I find myself getting sick, and friends have told me that it is happening because I am under stress.

My wife and I have been married for six years, but I had to leave her. She got involved with my own brother. One evening, I came home and saw my brother's car in the driveway. I walked around the house and let the dogs out. I heard my brother and my wife in the bedroom. I thought to myself, what is my brother doing in the bedroom? I listened and realised they were not just talking -- they were having sex. I was speechless. I stood on the steps until they were finished.

I heard my wife ask, "Who let the dogs out?" I answered from outside, "I did." I told her I had been outside for a while and had heard what they were doing. She denied it, saying they were not doing anything.

I went around to the front, and she opened the door. I asked where my brother was, and she said he was using the bathroom. I looked at my wife and saw guilt all over her face. When my brother came out, I asked him why he was at my house. He said my wife called him. I told him to leave. My wife went back to the room, likely trying to fix herself up. My brother left. I don't know how I controlled myself, but when I went into the bedroom, I could still smell sex.

Pastor, it has been three months now, and I have not touched my wife, nor have I spoken to my brother. My wife has tried to convince me that nothing is going on between them, but I am not a fool. I knew my brother loved women, but I never imagined he would have sex with my wife. I also never dreamed my wife would consent. Sometimes when I think about the situation, I can't eat.

My wife and I have two children together, and we have been struggling along. She tells everyone that I have treated her well. My father said he is proud of me because I could have killed my brother or my wife. I told him I am going to divorce my wife, and he supports me.

My big problem is what to do about the children. I would like to take them, but I believe my wife will put up a fight. If she does, I will tell the judge everything. Please, I need your advice.

L. C.

Dear L. C.,

It will be difficult for you to remain with this woman, and I doubt very much that you will ever have a good relationship with your brother. Both your brother and your wife have done something very disgraceful. How can a brother have sex with his brother's wife? That is disgraceful and iniquitous. You have to let this woman go.

You need to see a lawyer and discuss your concerns about the children. My friend, I wish you well. Free your mind and start the process by divorcing this woman.
