Rutherford rockets in ICC men’s player rankings
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CMC):
West Indies' explosive left-hander Sherfane Rutherford has made a significant leap in the latest ICC Men's ODI player rankings following his dazzling century against Bangladesh in the first match of their ongoing series.
Rutherford's blistering 113 has propelled him 62 spots up the rankings, placing him in joint-31st alongside the Netherlands' Scott Edwards.
Rutherford's rise wasn't the only good news for the West Indies. ODI captain Shai Hope, known for his consistency with the bat, moved up one place to claim the eighth spot among batters.
Meanwhile, West Indies left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie showcased his all-around brilliance, climbing four spots to ninth on the ODI bowlers' list and making a similar jump to joint-36th among all-rounders.
In the Test arena, England's Harry Brook made headlines by dethroning teammate Joe Root as the top batter. Brook's recent performances have elevated him to the pinnacle of the Men's Test batting rankings, signalling a changing of the guard in England's batting hierarchy.
India continue to dominate in the Test bowling and all-rounder categories. Speedster Jasprit Bumrah remains firmly at the top of the bowlers' list, while the ever-reliable Ravindra Jadeja holds on to his crown as the leading all-rounder in Test cricket.
Australia's Travis Head is the top T20 batter while England's Adil Rashid is the top-ranked bowler in T20 cricket.
