Clarendon College captain Malachi Douglas is excited that although they failed to achieve their objective of winning three schoolboy football titles, they were still able to capture the daCosta Cup and the Olivier Shield.

The coaching staff and players of Clarendon College, during the season, touted their capacity to win three titles but fell short in the Champions Cup final, which they lost to parish rivals Glenmuir.

Douglas admitted they were disappointed to lose the Champions Cup, but said it was the trophy they preferred to lose.

"The ball is round, and sometimes you lose, but we lost the one that was the least important to us.

"Yes, we wanted to win it (Champions Cup), but the D'Cup and the Olivier Shield were the most important, and we got them. I am pleased that we won back those trophies," said Douglas.

The player was the heart of Clarendon College, pulling the strings in the middle of the park while creating and scoring goals.

In a season where he had his fair share of goals and assists and was a crucial contributor, the midfielder still thinks he was below his optimum.

"It was an awesome season for me and also the school, which supported us a lot. It was a successful season, for sure. We were the best, but there is always room for improvement in some areas. I can improve, and see myself doing even more, but it was a good performance," he contends.

Douglas was overwhelmed after playing his last official schoolboy football match for the Chapelton-based Clarendon in the Olivier Shield final, as he was mobbed by adoring faithful.

"This (game) was an emotional one for me. I told my manager that Clarendon College is my family, so it's very emotional leaving Clarendon College, but I am confident they will continue to be successful," Douglas said.

He also has his eyes on his options for his future.

"Let's see what the future holds for me. Let's see what the future brings," he offered, when asked about his next move.
