In-form striker Thomas earns first national call-up
Cavalier striker Shaneil Thomas has been rewarded for his impressive form in the Concacaf Caribbean Cup competition with a first call-up to the Reggae Boyz squad to face Guatemala at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey on Saturday.
Thomas, who also has the distinction of winning every possible schoolboy title available while at Jamaica College, from under-14 to the Olivier Shield, had a difficult Jamaica Premier League (JPL) season last term because of injury.
However, Thomas, this season, has been back to full fitness and his best. He has starred in the Concacaf Caribbean Cup competition with eight goals in six games, which has put Cavalier in the two-leg final in November-December against Robinhood of Suriname.
Thomas leads a group of seven local players in the squad. The others are Jamoi Topei, Demario Phillips, Ramone Howell, Shaqueil Bradford, Kyle Ming and Richard King.
The rest of the squad comprises United States of America-based players Maalique Foster, Damani Osei, Lamonth Rochester, Jon Bell, Romain Blake, Kyle Duncan, Trayvon Gray, Javain Brown, Kevon Lambert, Romario Williams, Devon Williams, Tyreek Magee, Deshane Beckford, Jahmali Waite, Amal Knight and Trayvone Reid.
