KP CHOICE has an interesting choice of rider, Javaniel Patterson, whose patience will suit his running style in Saturday's Kaz Hoshay trophy at six furlongs.

Patterson has good hands and won't ask KP CHOICE to do more than he should on the far side before using race fitness to make a decisive move against rivals on the lead swinging for home.

An overnight-allowance freshman, KP CHOICE, won ridiculously easily when graduating to the level two weeks ago, indicating he could upset the applecart against seasoned runners at the level.

A knotty feature with 14 runners, the Kaz Hoshay has the makings of a race made for a consistent horse, a cap which perfectly fits KP CHOICE, who has only been off the board once in his last 10 starts, venturing outside his distance for fifth place, behind GET A PEPSI early July.

Drawn at post-position 10, KP CHOICE is surrounded by a few seasoned but long-in-the-tooth overnight allowance runners such as LABAN, RACE CAR, EL PROFESSOR and DUKE, a quartet which will attract attention from 'back-class' bettors.

However, improving form will always trump memories, especially for a four-year-old colt, whose last run indicated that making his move from just off the pace suits him best as opposed to being hammered on the lead among ace sprinters.

There is hardly any holding speed in the race to run KP CHOICE off his legs. United States of America-bred MADELYN'S SUNSHINE ran a brave race off a five-month break from an inside draw out the straight the same afternoon KP CHOICE strolled on the round course at five and a half furlongs against non-winners of four races.

Another 'back-class' horse, MADELYN'S SUNSHINE, was noted trying to run her best race against another foreigner, Canadian AMERICAN TAP, an overseas winner, who blew rivals to bits on debut, clocking 58.2.

MADELYN'S SUNSHINE finishing seventh behind four-length winner AMERICAN TAP wasn't a bad effort off a lengthy lay-up. However, local-bred PRESS CONFERENCE, reporting off a similar break and finished second, three lengths clear of MADELYN'S SUNSHINE at similar handicaps.

Another local-bred, third-place RING CHARMER was also ahead of MADELYN'S SUNSHINE, suggesting the foreigner might need to be made fitter, especially facing a consistent KP CHOICE.
