STAR PICKS - Edwin Allen, JC set to lead on Day 2
FOLLOWING yesterday's opening day the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships which had only preliminary-round competition, the action is expected to heat up today as teams begin the hunt for points.
Seventeen finals, nine girls and eight boys will be contested.
On the female side, defending champions Edwin Allen High who are very strong in middle distance events look well set to take a comfortable lead over main rivals Hydel High and Holmwood Technical. At the end of the day Edwin Allen are projected to end on 70 points, 28 more than second-place Holmwood who are predicted to be on 42 with Hydel closing out the top three on 28.
It should be a similar story among the boys as 2021 champions and strong title contenders Jamaica College (JC) look set for a healthy lead. The Neil Harrison-coached JC are projected to end the day with 77 points, well ahead of defending champions Kingston College on 51 and Calabar on 36.
