ST JOHN'S, Antigua (CMC):

Jamaicans Fabian Allen, John Campbell, Sheldon Cottrell, and Oshane Thomas were among seven new players handed retainer contracts by Cricket West Indies for the next year.

Allen and Campbell were recently called into the Windies team earlier this year for the visit of England, much like Cottrell and Thomas, who also featured prominently in the team's just-concluded campaign at the ICC World Cup in England and Wales. They are joined by recently recalled batsman Darren Bravo and fellow Trinidadian left-hander Nicholas Pooran, as well as Vincentian Jomel Warrican.

Bravo, 30, has played 52 Tests and 110 One-Day Internationals but only returned to the squad late last year following an acrimonious falling-out with former board president Dave Cameron.

He has been given an all-format contract while the 23-year-old Pooran, who was the Windies' leading batsman at the ICC World Cup, has received a white-ball contract.
