Unidentified man shot dead in Amity Hall, St Catherine

A grim early morning discovery has triggered a murder investigation after the body of an unidentified man was found in the farming community of Amity Hall, Old Harbour.

Detectives assigned to the Old Harbour Criminal Investigation Branch are now trying to determine the identity of the man, who was shot and killed by unknown assailants.

Reports are that about 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, residents heard explosions in the area. Several hours later, about 6:00 a.m. on January 14, police personnel were summoned to the scene.

On arrival, the police observed the body of a man believed to be in his early 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, dressed in black pants and an orange coloured shirt.

Checks revealed what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the upper body, along with masking tape around the neck.

The scene was processed and the body was removed to the Spanish Town Hospital.

Investigations into the killing are being carried out by the Old Harbour Criminal Investigation Branch.
