Holness expected to announce stronger COVID measures today
Prime Minister Andrew Holness is expected to announce stronger new COVID-19 containment measures at a 5 o'clock press conference this afternoon.
The current measures aimed at containing the spread of the virus will expire tomorrow, Monday March 22.
During his budget debate presentation last week, the Prime Minister warned that stronger measures are coming as hospitalisations have exceeded capacity as the surge in new infections continue.
Jamaica continues to see on average over 500 new COVID cases daily, with the recent clinical summary from the Ministry of Health reporting 673 new infections in the last 24 hours.
