Woman dies after being chopped with machete

A man who allegedly attacked three people in Top Litchfield in Wait-A-Bit, Trelawny, yesterday is now in police custody facing a murder charge following the death of one of the victims.

Dead is 70-year-old Violet Rowe, a farmer of the same community.

Reports are that about 7:20 a.m., the man was reportedly being transported to a medical facility by a relative when he attacked the woman with a machete and then ran. It is alleged that the man then turned on Rowe, who was also chopped several times. Another man was also attacked, allegedly with a farm tool.

All three injured persons were taken to hospital, where Rowe later died.

Investigations are ongoing.
