Diamond-selling dancehall artiste, Charly Black, wants Jamaicans to know that despite the ever-present problem of crime, the island is still very much a paradise.

The entertainer is using his new track, Vacation , to highlight the good things still happening on the island.

"Even before me write the song, I've always been the type of person who would focus on what makes us special as a people - what brings us together, not what pulls us apart," Charly Black said.

'jamaica still nice'

"We have it hard here in Jamaica, with cost of living, crime, etc, but Jamaica still nice innu. We still can pick some ackee, run a boat, you still can go enjoy the beach and have a nice Red Stripe, smoke some marijuana and build a vibe," he said.

The Gyal You a Party Animal deejay argued that Jamaica is, without question, the number one vacation spot.

"This song is a dedication to Jamaica and her beauty as well as my state of mind. When I'm here, I live like I'm on vacation, eat like I'm on vacation, and dress like I'm on vacation, because I'm so happy to be Jamaican," Charly Black said.

The Trelawny native, who is very popular in South and Central America, thought it important to remind Jamaicans that although things look gloomy, there's still a lot to celebrate.

"Me like sing songs weh make people happy. That's what music is supposed to do anyway. Me wah people can dance to my songs when dem hear it and feel good," he said.

Vacation was released on the weekend on the Aftercluv label for Universal Music Recordings. One user, commenting on an online platform, said "My song this, makes me really wanna get away from this cold ass Chicago weather".
